Interactive Reno Lodging Amenities Chart
The Interactive Reno Lodging Amenities Chart, located on the
Reno Lodging
page, has been set up to provide both an at-a-glance guide to hotels in
Reno
, as well as detailed information (obtained interactively) concerning each hotel's
features, services and amenities. (Note: Your Browser must have javascript enabled in order for the interactive aspects to function.)
Twenty features are examined. Associated icons (shown below) run down the left column of the chart. For the most part
these icons are self explanatory. However, by clicking any feature-icon you can obtain its definition. Hotel names, then, are listed in subsequent
columns from left to right.
The at-a-glance aspect of this chart makes it easy to quickly see exactly what hotels do or do not offer a particular
feature, service or amenity. But the chart goes further by allowing you to interactively click on the √ marks
and the - marks (where feature-icons and hotel-names converge) to open a bubble-window containing detailed information as to exactly what each hotel offers
in regard to that feature, service and amenity.
Element Marks:
Indicates the amenity/feature/service is offered by the hotel.
Indicates the amenity/feature/service is not provided per sa, but you can still see what, if anything,
the hotel may offer in regard to it.
Features, Amenities and Services:
Star Ratings: Generally, the more stars the better
the overall quality of a hotel. Reno Star ratings are tied to commonly recognized standards of comparison and expected levels of quality established and evaluated
by specific American hotel corporations.
-
Hotel: The property needs to be a free-standing structure with enclosed
guest rooms that contain, at a minimum, a bed, linnen, a private bathroom, a window, air conditioning, a telephone and a secure door.
-
Casino: Not all hotels, motels and inns in Reno have a casino; although
most of the major hotels do have some kind of gaming on property. In the State of Nevada, accommodation establishments that have a gaming license are qualified
to call themselves a "Hotel Casino." Such designations can be misleading. For example, does the hotel provide a full-service casino, or only a
row of slot machines? Does it offer a Sports Book, poker room or Players Club? Our chart will tell you just how comprehensive the hotels' casino actually is.
-
Bar/Lounge: The importance of a bar/lounge in the hotel is obvious
to anyone who has traveled long and far to get here. Just think, if hotels didn't offer bars and lounges we never would have met Marshall Dillon, Ms. Kitty
or Festus!
-
Entertainment: We're talking about live entertainment
here, e.g. theater, stage performances, etc.
-
Food: Find out what dining options are offered AT the hotel.
-
Swimming Pool: Does the hotel have a pool? Is it an in-door pool,
an out-door pool, or both? Is it seasonal?
-
Whirlpool/Jacuzzi/Spa: Does the hotel have a spa, whirlpool and/or
jacuzzi? And what other spa services are offered?
-
Fitness Center: This is a feature that has become more important
over the last five years, and is something guest's have come to expect. Find out what type of health or exercise facilities they actually do offer.
-
High Speed Internet Access: This has become one
of the most important features over the last five years. Most hotels are accommodating this gambling-competing addiction for the techno-nerd in all of us.
-
Non-Smoking Rooms: This has become the single most important
feature, but remember, if the hotel room you are staying in is over 10 years old, it has probably been smoked in before, regardless of its non-smoking designation.
Several coats of paint on the walls and other chemical treatments will never get rid of every particle of nicotine odder.
-
Room Service: Room service means the hotel brings freshly
prepaid food to your room. Pizza delivery is not room service. Know what they offer.
-
Handicap Accessible Rooms: Most of the major hotels
offer handicap accessable rooms. Handicap rooms have doors wide enough for wheelchairs, and railings around the toilet and shower.
-
Parking/Valet: First, we know of no hotels in Reno that charge
for parking, so feel free to move your car around at will. Secondly, valets are the hardest working people in the world, and well worth their efforts, so make
use of their services when you can. A couple of bucks tip and you're on your way.
-
Wedding Chapel: Does the hotel have its own wedding chapel and/or
offer wedding ceremonies?
-
Meeting Function Space: Who has what in regard
to serving your group or meeting needs? Remember, meeting/function space books out fast, so if you need it, book it NOW!
-
Business Center: If your trip includes business activity,
you will what to know how comprehensive a hotels' business center is in terms of the business support services it offers.
-
Golf Course: There are no hotels in Reno that actually
have a 18-hole golf course on-property. However, almost all hotels can arrange a game of golf for you at one of several fine golf courses in the Reno area.
-
Bowling: Does the hotel have its own bowling center, and how far
is it to the National Bowling Stadium (Reno Bowling Center)?
-
Pets: Some hotels in Reno are pet friendly. Find out who and what accommodations
are offered for Fido.
